Ethan was fantastic with replacing our breaker panel. He asked thoughtful and detailed questions to make sure he knew exactly what we were looking for in addition to looking out for us to make sure we were not getting work done that was actually not needed. His workmanship was great and we will definitely be coming back to him in the future for our electrical needs!

I had a major malfunction in the fire alarm at my 6 unit apartment building. I called my electrician who normally does my work, got no answer but a voicemail stating that he's not available after 5. Having an emergency on my hands I called greater portland electric at 9pm on a Friday and Ethan answered. He was on site 30 mins later. He handled my emergency, gave me a very fair price for an emergency service and was all around a pleasure to work with. He's my new electrician and I highly recommend him to anyone for anything electric!

This is only the 2nd time I’ve ever felt compelled to leave a review for a business online. I had 2 small electrical issues I needed help with, and Ethan was able to take care of them the same week I called. He is honest, refreshingly direct (without being impolite), hardworking, experienced, and knowledgeable. And above all, he is truly kind. I’m a young, new homeowner without much experience. Rather than trying to take advantage of me, he spent the whole time he was working giving me free tips and useful advice for future projects. He went out of his way to help me with a third issue I didn’t yet have a plan for, and fixed that too. The pricing was reasonable, even with one of the jobs being significantly more difficult than either of us expected. Ethan is a rare person who does more than the bare minimum without being asked and seems to take pride in the quality of his work. Would definitely recommend working with Greater Portland Electric, and I look forward to working him again when I have future electrical needs.

There are a lot of people/companies out there who advertise that they do electrical services and claim they have lots of experience and care about the customer but… not all electricians are created equal. Ethan Bixler, owner of Greater Portland Electric, is the real deal! He is one of those rare people in this profession who does truly good work, who really cares about what he does, and absolutely wants his customers to be happy when the job is finished.
I do not usually write reviews or associate my name with other people’s work but in this case, I wanted to share my experience working with Ethan, as I hope it helps others looking for electrical services to feel confident in their choice. There are three things I look for in a good electrician (or any trades-person who is coming into my house). A person who: (1) does quality work, (2) does it at a fair price, and (3) does it reliably and on-time.
Ethan (and his company) excel at all of these and is also just a really nice guy. He is transparent about what he can and cannot do, is proud of his work, and is trustworthy enough that I am fine with him having the security code to my house (not something I would give to most people). He goes out of his way to figure out challenging issues and is willing to work with other contractors and delivery people (in my case, even fixing what they had screwed up).
If you want a highly capable and knowledgeable electrician, who does top-notch work, and is a quality person to boot, don’t hesitate to contact Ethan!
